Jubilee-Harlingen is a public, open-enrollment charter school. Our faculty instructs using the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) as measured by the STAAR exam. In addition to a rigorous academic program, we are a Leader in Me school. All students learn and apply the Stephen Covey 7-Habits to their school and home life.
We offer a variety of academic clubs: Science / STEM, Art, Creative Writing, Spelling and Chess. Additional clubs offered are Student Council, Anti-Bully Club, Drill Team and Eagles for Christ. Sports offered to our students include Football, Volleyball, Basketball, and Soccer. We also host Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of America.
Our campus is very family oriented, and we embrace our active parent volunteers. 100% of our teachers are SBEC Certified and Highly Qualified.
Jubilee-Harlingen opened its doors in the 2011-2012 school year under the leadership of Rio Grande Valley Associate Superintendent, Mr. George Banda; Associate Director, Mr. John Jacobson; and Principal, Dr. Cindy Sadler, and served 92 students. By 2013-2014, Jubilee-Harlingen had reached capacity, and in order to accommodate the growing student population, a second campus was opened and named Jubilee-Destiny. The 2014-2015 school year welcomed Mrs. Tanya Perez as the Jubilee-Destiny principal.
In the 2019-2020 academic year, the Jubilee-Harlingen and Jubilee-Destiny campuses will merge and serve PK-8th grade students in a new, state-of-the-art facility. Features will include science and art labs, a full-size gymnasium and a full-service kitchen. The 43,000 square foot campus will be rich in technology, with Google Chrome-books and Smart TVs to enhance both teaching and learning.
Our continuing focus moving forward is leadership and character building. We take outstanding instructors, proven teaching methods and develop innovative and effective ways to educate the whole child. The campus will also accentuate Stephen Covey’s “Seven Habits of Highly Effective People” through Covey’s Leader in Me program. These principles, in combination with a positive discipline program, will provide a safe and structured environment for learning.
